Step 1: Download Chinese Takeout Box Template

The first step of the process is to download the template from the Internet. Choose your size. You will find different templates to make small, medium or large-sized Chinese food box. Finalize the dimension for each. Most commonly used ones are medium sized boxes with (3.3 x 3.3 x 3.3) inches. Print it from your printer. Copy it on the required sheet of cardstock or Kraft paper from which you want to make Chinese takeout box. A regular office paper is less durable so it is not recommended to use.

Step 2: Cut out all the pieces

Use a ruler, scissors or a craft knife to cut the different pieces of Chinese food box template. One of the pieces (left in the picture) has a slot which needs to be cut.

Step 3: Score the lines

Score the lines using a ruler and a butter knife. You may also use a scoring tool if you have. Place your pieces on a soft surface while scoring. For example, place a tea towel on a table. Scoring the lines facilitates you to fold the box easily into the required shape.

Step 4: Apply glue to the tabs

Find the piece of template similar to one in the picture. Apply glue to the tabs. Double-Sided tape can also be used for this purpose. A strong adhesive works the most.

Step 5: Attach the remaining pieces to tabs

Take the remaining pieces of the template and attach them to the tabs. Ensure that the pieces with the tabs go opposite to the slots as shown in the image. Also, make sure that the printed side of the pieces is up.

Step 6: Apply adhesive to four tabs of the box

Next step is to apply glue to all the four tabs shown in the image below.

Step 7: Assemble the box

Lift up all the sides of the box one by one. Use tabs to attach every side to the next one. Hold the sides for few seconds to fix them properly. Let the glue dry. If you want to create a Chinese takeout box with handles punch the holes on any two opposite sides. Use any metallic wire to create a handle.
